Our method

The approach adopted by Berlin Schule for language courses is communicative, with a notional-functional method. Thus, the aim is the development and achievement by the learner not of linguistic competence in the strict sense (grammatical structures, rules of phonetics, morphology, and syntax), but of broader linguistic-communicative competence. The learner will be able to develop the four main skills (oral interaction or speaking, oral reception or listening, written production or writing, and written reception or reading) and will be able to express himself in a wide variety of everyday situations. The student will feel neither intimidated nor overwhelmed by the basics since the teachers will repeat the basic concepts, expanding on them, at each level.

How long do the language courses last?

Our language school offers a diverse range of course durations to cater to your needs. Here’s a breakdown:

– Online intensive courses (morning and afternoon): 3 weeks– On-site afternoon courses: 3 weeks– On-site intensive morning courses: 4 weeks– Online and on-site late afternoon courses: 5 weeks– Extensive evening courses (online and on-site): 8 weeks

This flexibility allows you to choose a course that aligns with your schedule.

Do I have to be in Berlin to attend the courses?

We understand that your schedule might be busy or that you are away from Berlin. Therefore, we provide a variety of online courses available at four different time slots: morning, afternoon, late afternoon, and evening. Feel free to browse our schedule to select the option that works best for you, or don’t hesitate to reach out to us for help. We’re here to support you!

Do you only teach German at Berlino Schule?

We also offer language classes in Italian and English; you can explore our schedule to discover the upcoming courses, and if you cannot find a group course for the language you would like to study, contact us for more details about our options!

I want to attend your courses but I am a beginner, is that a problem?

Not at all! Our language school offers German courses for all levels, from A1.1 to C1.2. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced learner, we have the right course for you. If you are unsure about your level, feel free to take a placement test on our website.

In which language is the course conducted?

Our courses are conducted entirely in the target language, in this case, in German. This immersive approach ensures that both basic (A levels) and advanced (B-C levels) courses are taught using the language you’re learning. For the initial stages, English might be used as a bridge for introductory courses to ease the learning process. The early stages of learning might feel challenging. Still, over time, you’ll likely notice significant progress and experience the benefits of direct language immersion, similar to how we learn our native languages. This method accelerates language acquisition by encouraging natural thinking and communication in the new language.

How do I know which course is best for me?

You can contact us and share with us your necessities, and our experts will help you find the best solution for you! Also, if you are unsure about your language level, you can take our free placement tests on our website!

What are the payment methods?

We have three payment methods:

– bank transfer (both online and at the school)

– credit card (both online and at the school)

– cash (only at the school)

I am looking for an immersive experience, like a study trip. Do you offer one?

The Summer or the Winter school of Berlino Schule is the German study trip you are looking for. If you choose to sign up for them, you can attend super-intensive courses in the lively and international district of Friedrichshain. That’s not all, you will be offered the chance to join 8 extra activities (i.e. cineforum, walking tours, museums, conversation activities, etc) and a lot more.

In the introductory video you mentioned the Visa Assistance Service. What does it consist of?

If you need to attend language courses to qualify for a German Student Visa, a Language Learning Visa, or a resident permit, we offer comprehensive Visa Assistance, simplifying the process into three easy steps:

Schedule your appointment at the relevant visa office and contact us to register for a minimum of three intensive on-site courses with flexible payment options: you can pay in one lump sum or in installments using cash, card, or bank transfer.
Schedule your appointment at the appropriate office
Receive a Confirmation of Enrollment and an Invitation Letter from Berlino Schule.
Visit the Embassy or Ausländerbehörde to request your visa.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed the visa application process, and you’re ready to begin your language-learning journey with us.

How many levels are the courses divided into?

Our German courses are organized into semi-levels (A1.1, A1.2 etc.), allowing clear progression, personalized learning, and focused skill development. This approach builds confidence, enhances communication abilities, and makes language learning more manageable and effective.

None of the proposed course schedule works for me. Is there a way to take more flexible private classes?

If our group course schedules don’t align with your availability, don’t worry, we can arrange some private classes for you! Both the timings and the programs will be based on your needs.
